‘Unexploded bombs’ found at Yangon International Airport

The Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defense Services announced on Facebook that several ‘unexploded bombs’ were found in Terminal 1 of the Yangon International Airport at 9:30am today.

The alleged bombs consisted of four M150 energy drink bottles packed into a green plastic bag that was found on a desk inside a check-in counter.

The Special Mine Elimination Force and other officials came to the airport to destroy the package. The authorities said the bottles contained a yellow, oily liquid.

This is the fourth incident involving explosive M150 energy drink bottles this month. A series of small explosions hit various locations in Yangon Region on three occasions this month. No one was harmed by these explosions, which struck two supermarkets and an immigration office.

Police announced on Saturday that they had detained three suspects in connection to the three previous bomb incidents.

The suspicious, green package was found on this desk at the airport.
