‘Four women’ performance at Open Space Yangon (Saturday)

Four female artists take to the stage at new art venue Open Space Yangon with performance art pieces. Ma Ei, Zoncy, Yadanar and Nora are leading figures in Myanmar’s contemporary art scene and will be exploring the theme of ‘body and temporality’.

Open Space Yangon, 1B #104 Street 42 (middle block). 5pm until 9pm.

Slam poetry at Pansuriya (Saturday)

A night of slam poetry at art gallery and (awesome) restaurant Pansuriya. As the organizers say, “art doesn’t need a language” so performances will be in both Burmese and English. 

Pansuriya, #102 Bogalazay Street (middle block). 6:30pm until 8pm.

Rooftop hip-hop party Yangon International Hotel (Saturday)

This hip-hop night at Yangon International Hotel’s rooftop bar purports to be the “dopest party” in town. Featuring local rappers J-me and G-Tone as well as DJs flown in from Bangkok. Entrance is K7,000.

Yangon International Hotel, #330 Ahlone Road. 9pm until 3pm.

Myo Pya’s first solo exhibition at Gallery 65 (Saturday)

The Yaw Min Gyi gallery presents the first solo exhibition of Myo Pya. Featuring 30 pieces based on meditation and mindfulness. Runs through August 30.

Gallery 65, #65 Yaw Min Gyi Road. From 10am until 6pm daily.

Michael Moore film at British Club (Sunday)

The newest Michael Moore doco, Where to Invade Next, screens on Sunday at the British Club. The 2015 film sees Moore examine governmental approaches to social and economic challenges in the US and abroad – in Finland, Tunisia, Slovenia and Portugal.

The British Club. 7pm.
