Police officers in Yangon go on drunken rampage, destroy car after being asked to work

Four police officers in Yangon are most likely in a shitload of trouble after they reportedly got drunk and wrecked a vehicle and part of an investigation room at the Mingalar Taung Nyunt township police station around 10pm on Wednesday.

According to the Voice, the inebriated individuals in question were apparently filled with rage after being asked to go on patrol that night, a request that interrupted their drinking.

AND YOU DON’T GET TO INTERRUPT THAT.

Instead of sobering up and going to work, the officers allegedly took an iron rod and bashed the windows of the investigation room and the van, which was parked outside.

“They were angry with the duty assignment and they were yelling at an officer,” a witness was quoted as saying in the Voice. “And they destroyed glass [windows] in the station and the car glass [windows] with iron rod. This car belongs to the police officer.”

A senior police official at the station confirmed the report in an interview and said: “we will take action on them according to the rules and regulations of police.”

Incidentally, outside the station today there is a parked car that looks, well, like someone attacked it with a rod.
