An explosion this week in the Kokang Region’s administrative capital Laukkai has injured eight people, 7Day reported.
Shan State police say it happened in the evening on August 2, but few details were provided.
Deputy chief officer Aung Myat Moe reportedly said that a landmine went off near a petrol shop.
Two people were seriously injured and sent to Lashio for better treatment, according to 7Day. A car and a motorbike were also destroyed.
From February to November of 2015, Kokang rebels clashed with Myanmar’s army around Laukkai, leading to dozens of deaths on both sides.
The fighting slowed after a state of emergency was lifted in November.
