When Yadanarpon university, on the outskirts of Mandalay city, flooded dramatically on Monday, animal lovers had one thing in mind: the dogs.
As the waters rose, employees from the city’s Royal Heart animal shelter rushed in to literally ferry out stranded strays and provide them with food supplies.
Photos posted to the group’s Facebook page show some pretty touching scenes.

Severe flooding has struck across swathes of Myanmar in recent days, forcing tens of thousands to leave their homes in low-lying areas.
According to the UN, at least 127,000 people have been displaced, with Mandalay one of the worst-hit areas. The historic U Bein Bridge was totally underwater as of yesterday.
No injuries have yet been reported, thankfully, at least among the human population. Judging from the pictures coming out of Mandalay, we’re not so sure about the canines.
As for the cats, we can only hope they were smart enough to flee long before the waters arrived.
