Aung San Suu Kyi tells party members not to hire relatives

In her latest effort to clean-up government, Aung San Suu Kyi has forbidden party members from hiring their relatives as personal assistants, because apparently that’s a thing.

Her instructions were included in a letter posted by Mizzima.

By relatives, she doesn’t just mean sons and daughters. According to the letter, “relatives” means siblings, children, son or daughter-in-laws, nephews and nieces, and grandchildren.

Thorough!

Since winning the election in November, Suu Kyi has made it clear she won’t tolerate business as usual. She has told MPs to keep their communities free of trash, pushed forward lower salaries for them and limited allowable gifts.
