Ahead of the opening of Yangon International Airport’s brand new terminal later this week, behind-the-scenes photos circulating on Facebook give an early glimpse of the $660 million project.
Richard See, identified on his public Facebook page as the Myanmar manager for Samsung, yesterday posted a series of images from inside the terminal, scheduled to open March 12. The images could not immediately be independently verified.
“Looks a bit like [Singapore’s] Changi Airport,” wrote See.
(The airport consistently voted among the world’s best, with a cinema and botanical gardens.)
Errrrm, not so sure about that.
It does look vast, though.
And there’s definitely a KFC.
No idea what this is.
The new terminal will be able to accommodate 6 million people per year – doubling the airport’s capacity of 2.7 million.
