Myanmar journalist files ‘in-depth’ report amid chest-high flood waters

With TV broadcasting, it’s all about capturing the drama of news events.

But Ko Myo Zaw Lin, a journalist with the Democratic Voice of Burma, went beyond the call of duty on Friday when he did a live broadcast while standing in flood waters just above his nipples.

He was reporting about 60 miles northeast of Yangon in flood-ridden Bago, one of the areas of Myanmar which has been battered by heavy rain and wind in recent days.

According to a post on DVB’s website, the crew was having trouble finding a place to stand to get a perfect shot of the drenched street… So the intrepid reporter simply waded into it.

In the clip, he makes no mention of his predicament, cutting straight to the chase: “Now we are in Kalyarni Quarter of Bago Division. This area has been flooded for the past 8 days.”

At 1:55 in the video, a boat full of people trying to get around during the flood sails past his head.

Someone get the guy a Pulitzer!
